Lake County has launched a new ‘Buy Local. Work Local. Build Local.’ program to help connect local women-owned and minority businesses with government projects.
“I think sometimes businesses shy away from contracting with units of government,” said Aaron Lawlor, Lake County Board chairman. “But in Lake County, given our strong financial situation, it’s important throughout this new program for us to articulate to our businesses that it’s actually easier than they would expect.”
The goal is to expand participation from local businesses in the county’s procurement process while keeping within the law, according to a press release.
