Island Books is a pivotal part our our Mercer Island community. Laurie welcomes public and private schools to host fundraisers and gives proceeds back, present and activity at our community farmer’s market and hosts a number of events that foster relationship and support to others. They partner with other Indie businesses including LIBRO.FM which is an audible book store—Island Books is for “the other”. . On any given night Island Book’s staff greet you with warmth and an egarness to help point you to the book you are looking for ans often inform me on a book I didn’t know I need. Saturday mornings staff is busy helping all of our community members wrap birthday party gifts so parents can check one more thing off their todo list, Island Books is not merely a cute small town business, they are a part of our community with a staff that works really hard for our community. Laurie is quick to offer Island Books as a gathering space when community events happen, for example partnering with the MIPD to host a safety info night for parents and families during a season where a sexual predator was present in the neighborhood. She leads the book store to think outwards, reaching out to all. A small book store with a mighty impact! Celebrating 45 years of service and partnership with the Zmercer Island community.
