5 Main Street Events to Visit in April

From spring break to spring cleaning, so many of our traditions have a connection to this time of year. In April, you can enjoy farmers markets, 5k races and spring festivals throughout the country. Many of these events will be annual traditions, while others may give the community something new to celebrate. Either way, you can find local fun simply by going downtown this month.

Chocolate Walk

Lebanon, Ohio

A new local tradition, Main Street Lebanon’s Chocolate Walk is back for a second year. The event will feature 20 Chocolate Stops throughout the historic downtown area, where participants can pick up a sweet treat from a local shop or eatery. At the end of the walk, Main Street Lebanon will host a Chocolate and Wine/Beer Reception. The reception will include live music, a chocolate fountain and a cash bar. Earth Day Festival

Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Earth Day will take place on April 22. Downtown Mechanicsburg will get the celebration started early with its Earth Day Festival on April 21. The zero-waste festival will showcase eco-friendly products from local merchants and offer hands-on learning opportunities for kids of all ages. Wine Extravaganza

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Coeur d’Alene’s annual Wine Extravaganza will feature over 20 wineries and more than 65 wines. Guests can sample wines from Sonoma, California; Walla Walla, Washington; and even Coeur d’Alene itself. Super Hero Day

Kearny, Nebraska

On Super Hero Day, kids in Kearney, Nebraska, will have the opportunity to meet characters like Batman, Captain America, Spiderman and Wonder Woman. Virginia Creeper Fest

Abingdon, Virginia

The Virginia Creeper Trail follows old railroad tracks near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Running more than 30 miles, the trail begins in Abingdon, Virginia, and draws more than 200,000 visitors every year. During the Virginia Creeper Fest, participants can learn about hiking, climbing and other ways to enjoy this natural landscape.
