This year we’re getting our kicks on Route 66! We’ll be visiting five different destinations along the iconic Route 66 Highway, and keeping it local the whole way to Santa Monica, the official end of Route 66! We’ll be staying in locally owned hotels, eating at locally owned restaurants, and stopping along the way to interview independent business owners, main street advocates, and consumers about the importance of Main Street communities and “buying local.”
Look out for the Independent We Stand RAM ProMaster City Van, provided by RAM Commercial, in these cities:
- March 14: Oklahoma City, Okla.
- March 15: Amarillo, TX
- March 16: Albuquerque, N.M.
- March 17: Flagstaff/Sedona, Ariz.
- March 18: Santa Monica/Los Angeles, Calif.
You can follow all the shenanigans of the trip, along the way, on our Facebook page or on Twitter, using #GreatAmericanRt66. Check out interviews with independent business owners and see what gems we discover along the way. Will one of us step up and take the 72 ounce steak challenge at The Big Texan Steak Ranch, Brewery and Hotel in Amarillo? You’ll have to wait and see! Follow along to read about all the other attractions we stop at to discover what makes America’s Main Streets, great.
Last year’s road trip included interviews with a diverse selection of independent business owners and this year will be no different. From – boutiques, gift stores, and hardware stores – to restaurants and breweries – we’re finding out what makes independent businesses crucial in the success of local economies across the U.S. Follow along to see what we discover!
