Air Cooled Engines Inc.
Opened in 1977 by owner Craig McDonald upon graduating high school; Craig had a vision of using his knowledge and talent with gas motors to serve the community. Air Cooled Engines was open 8 blocks from his childhood home outside of New Orleans, he served the community by offering back up power generators as well as Stihl branded lawn and construction equipment. Air Cooled was allowed to work with Bell South, the predecessor to At&t, along with communications companies Air Cooled served the local fire stations and grocery stores in their back up power and 2 cycle needs. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit the city of New Orleans, Craig came back to the city after the storm passed and once given permission to re-enter the city by the mayor, Craig worked hard to get back up power going to the 911 emergency communication systems. He, along with many other brave men and women in the city, worked tirelessly to keep the cities communication systems active. Afterward, At&t recognized Craig's service to them and his community and presented him with a certificate of acknowledgment. Craig continued to work at Air Cooled doing what he loved until 2018 when he lost a battle with brain cancer. Now his family carries on his tradition of service to the community as they continue to work with At&t as well as homeowners with back up power sets on their home. We maintain one of the largest collection of stock parts in the city form over 8 different generator brands as well as the Stihl line of lawn and construction equipment that has been apart of the company from the very beginning.
