The Light Center
Fort Collins, CO
Our 48 year old business has just gone through a transition to a women-owned business. My dad, Larry, started the business and I am a single mom with 2 small children now running the company. We have a heart of giving philosophy that includes donating to every ask for silent auctions, donating lighting to local charities' buildings, and putting on an event called 'Shed Light on a Cause" in our store where we donate per person who attends and invite a non-profit have space to communicate their message to over 200 people who care in our community. In past years, we sent solar light bulbs to victims of natural disasters when they had no power (Oklahoma tornado) and given lighting at no cost to people who lost their homes in wildfires. Just 3 weeks ago, a customer went out of his way to find me in the store and thank me for the donation to Moore, OK 6 years ago! We sponsored and donated holiday light strings for a 50' tree to a large charity who funds child victims of abuse, Realities for Children. As a women-owned business, my goal is to make each employee as successful as possible so they can also give back to our community. We started bringing the Shed Light on a Cause event in to our store so the employees could directly see why working for us helps give back to a greater cause. Our company has big plans for the future. We want to be the foremost lighting company for wellbeing. We are studying light and how it affects our health and we want to find the best products to help people sleep, work and live better. We have an incredible reputation for great customer service in our community!
