Snooze Mattress Company Part of a Wide-Awake Pueblo Business Community.

Pueblo, Colorado, isn’t a huge city, which is a big part of its charm. But before you go calling this a “sleepy business community,” just check out some of the exciting things going on here – including being featured on a nationally broadcast Discovery Channel show about starting a small business and quickly growing it into a big success.

At the center of much of the excitement are the owners of a local business called the Snooze Mattress Company. Husband and wife team Jenny and Matt Smith own Snooze and several other small businesses in the Pueblo area. The Smiths are also well known for all they do for the local community through their Snooze Foundation, which supports area schools, the CSU Pueblo Foundation, the local United Way and more. Matt also serves the community as a director on the Pueblo West Metro District Board.

“We love to give back to our community,” said Jenny. “Truthfully, your business only grows as much as your community, so if you can help those who need it most, it really does come full circle.”

So, yes, they are active and valued members of the Pueblo business community. That’s why it’s no surprise that when the Discovery Channel chose Pueblo as the locale for a season of their popular show “Undercover Billionaire,” and they asked around for a dynamic local businessman to work with, they were directed toward Matt Smith.

In the show, three successful entrepreneurs are challenged to go undercover, start a business with just $100, and top the million-dollar mark in just 90 days. One of the entrepreneurs – Grant Cardone – goes to Pueblo, where he connects with Smith, and together they create a marketing company called “Wake Up Pueblo.”

In addition to being great TV, the company is very real. Through Wake Up Pueblo, Matt, Jenny and staff put their marketing expertise to use helping a host of clients – mostly other small, independent businesses in Pueblo – develop effective marketing and social media programs. Now with more than 20 employees, business is booming for both the company and its clients.

“One of my favorite things about being a small business owner is providing a fun and safe place for our employees to learn and grow,” Jenny said. “At Wake Up Pueblo and each business that we have, there’s a wonderful, passionate team doing what they love to do.”
