It’s not a Grammy or an Oscar – it’s the Indie! We are currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Independent Small Business of the Year Award Sponsored by Chrysler Group. The award celebrates the characteristics that make locally owned, independent businesses unique, like quality products, superior customer service, and active community involvement.
Each year, the Indie Award is given to an outstanding small business to recognize the difference that the nominated business makes in its community. Any independently owned business is eligible to receive the award – and all of the fine prizes that come with it – from mom-and-pop hardware stores to luxury boutique hotels. This year, the winning business will receive a prize package valued at more than $15,000. The package includes a $5,000 American Express gift card, a $1,000 STIHL certificate, a 3-day/2-night stay at an independent beach resort in Virginia Beach, Va., a “Small Business Web Starter Package” from independent web design firm Launch Interactive or ARI Network Services, a commemorative plaque, and more!
Continued support from Independent We Stand sponsor STIHL makes ‘buy local’ celebrations like the annual Indie Award possible. This year, we’ve also teamed up with fellow Independent We Stand sponsor Chrysler Group to present the Indie in all of its prize-filled glory. “Chrysler Group and our commercial dealer network, BusinessLink®, are focused on providing perks and programs that save small businesses time and money on for-work vehicles,” said Michael Ring, head of Small Business Sales and Operations, Chrysler Group LLC. “Chrysler Group’s support of the “Indie” is just another way we want to help build a bigger voice in the small business community.”
Small businesses give back to their communities by returning money to the local economy and supporting local causes and organizations. The hardworking men and women behind these indie businesses not only keep our economy running, but also share their passion with the members of their community. Together, they make each town and city across the country a more vibrant, diverse place to live and visit. Through recognition and rewards, the Indie Award celebrates one of these homegrown establishments and promotes the ‘buy local’ movement as a whole. Past Indie winners include All-Points Personal Transportation in Raleigh, N.C., and our very own Georgia-based STIHL dealer, Howard Brothers Hardware.
