As third-generation small business owners and lifelong Cincinnati residents, we feel it’s our responsibility to give back to a community that has given our family so much.
We found that a simple way to get involved was by attaching ourselves to a community project that our customers care about. We recently partnered with Devoe® Paint for the nationwide community service program, Devoe® Paint a New Start. Through the program, we were able to help one of our customers, Carolyn Ross, with a painting project for her organization, BeauVita, a non-profit that serves those with special needs in Cincinnati. The painting project involved restoring the exterior of BeauVita’s new community center.
Not only did this project make sense for our company since we were able to share our supplies and expertise, it was an honor to help BeauVita, which provides programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities.
Since the paint project occurred in June, BeauVita has seen rapid growth and its participants have been receiving individualized programs where they can acquire skills in many areas of daily living, including food preparation, laundry, socialization, computer skills, exercise and more.
According to Carolyn, “The improvements to our building have made such a difference in the community – it is now a place that people WANT to come to, not only the participants, but also the community, volunteers and our employees.”
Knowing that our small contribution to this organization has created such a big impact and raised their spirits makes us proud to set this type of example for our children. When we pass this company along to the next generation as our father did to us, we want them to share this value of community service.
