True Value Home Center Supports a New Kind of Home Building Project

For the past decade, the folks at True Value Home Center have worked hard to support their customers’ home improvement and building projects — but it’s not just residential homes they’re helping to build. As the winners of Independent We Stand’s most recent Indie Acts of Kindness Cash Mob, True Value Home Center is also helping to build a home for its community’s four-legged residents.

The Indie Acts of Kindness Cash Mob allows deserving Independent We Stand members to give back to their communities. The cash mob gives selected small businesses the opportunity to donate $1,000 to a community organization of their choice. This time around, True Value Home Center of Oakhurst, California, chose to pay it forward to the Eastern Madera County SPCA.

“The Eastern Madera County SPCA has been raising money for the past few years to build a no-kill animal shelter in our community,” said Nash Bryant, marketing specialist at True Value Home Center and a member of the business’s third generation. “Stray animals have been a problem for our town in the past and having a facility like this in place will be of huge help to Oakhurst and its people.”

The animal-friendly donation is a natural fit for this small-town, third-generation family business. As a locally owned hardware store and STIHL outdoor power equipment dealer, True Value Home Center helps local residents and businesses build new parts of the community every day. In giving to the Eastern Madera County SPCA, True Value Home Center has chosen to support another building project, which will ultimately give many animals a much-needed home.

The Eastern Madera County SPCA is a nonprofit organization that operates entirely on donations. The new animal care and adoption center has been decades in the making, but construction is now underway. Upon completion, the facility will span 8,000 square feet and house up to 40 dogs and 60 cats. The shelter will also feature a low-cost spay and neuter clinic.

“We are happy to help make this longtime dream a reality,” Bryant says.

Through True Value Home Center, Bryant and his family give back to their community’s bipedal residents, as well. True Value Home Center sponsors a local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and hosts an annual free soccer clinic with professional soccer players from nearby Fresno, California. The small business also supports Relay for Life and organizes a weekly farmers’ market in its parking lot throughout the spring and summer.

In giving back to its community, True Value Home Center ensures that Oakhurst feels more like home to people and animals alike. For more information about True Value Home Center, visit www.truevaluehomecenter.com.
