Windward Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Kaneohe, Hawaii, promises to be a car dealership for the people by guaranteeing a transparent trade-in process, a fair credit approval process and a tires-for-life program in its “Car Buyers’ Bill of Rights.” Beyond the auto industry, Windward also promises to be a dealership for the kids.
Windward Dodge Chrysler Jeep sponsors Peter’s Special Project, a school-supply drive for local students with special needs. The dealership collects school supplies in its showroom and at its annual Hott August Nitz, a car show with lots of family-friendly fun. For the 2014 drive, Windward collected and distributed more than $3,000-worth of supplies. These donations include traditional classroom necessities like notebooks, markers and backpacks, as well as some unconventional tools that special needs teachers use to enrich the learning experience for their students. For example, a local high school requested gardening supplies to help its students make use of the school’s community garden.
Windward Dodge Chrysler Jeep maintains its commitment to Hawaii’s special needs students throughout the year by arranging donations each month. The project started when the Windward team discovered that special needs teachers often spend hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket for their students’ school supplies. Now, a portion of every car sold from the dealership goes to helping those students and their teachers.
In addition to Peter’s Special Project, Windward also contributes consistently to the Wounded Warrior Project. In 2013, the dealership donated $18,000 to the veterans’ nonprofit. In 2014, Windward committed to donating $1 for each “like” that they received on their Facebook page through the month of October.
Through Peter’s Special Project and its other charitable endeavors, Windward Dodge Chrysler Jeep serves the windward side of Hawaii with more than just cars. The dealership has become an advocate not only for its customers, but also for students with special needs and the dedicated teachers who help them grow.
